About Ziggy’s
Ziggy’s Winston Inc. is proud to announce that the opening of the newest version of Ziggy’s in downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina was launched August 5th, 2011, with local heroes Codeseven. Ziggy’s newly constructed building on the corner of 9th and Trade Street in the Downtown Arts District is slated to bring you some the biggest and brightest stars of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. We still honor our motto of Roots, Rock, Reggae, and hope you will continue to support us in our new endeavor.
After a nearly three year hiatus owner Jay Stephens put together a team of local developers and investors to bring back Ziggy’s. Charles Womack and Brad McCauley of YES! Weekly collaborated with Stephens to design a great entertainment venue. Ziggy’s is a state-of-the-art Music Hall with a wrap around balcony and large stage. This space will be utilized weekly and will host live national bands, dance parties and special events. The capacity is 1,000 in the 14,000 square foot space. There is also our smaller, tavern-style bar attached to the Music Hall that is open 7 days a week. The tavern has a great deck space that will be used to host local bands and DJs.
The original Ziggy’s was located on 513 Deacon Blvd. near Wake Forest University for 27 years. It provided a great venue for all types of musical acts from Hootie and the Blowfish to Public Enemy to Slayer to Burning Spear to Bill Monroe. The property was bought up by a Wake Forest development group in November of 2007, leaving a void in the entertainment scene in town. Well, that musical void is now filled.
